We are living in a dark world. Every day, the prince and power of the air is working to turn more and more people away from the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 4:6). The power of darkness is persuading men and women that the Word of God is not a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path (Psalms 119:105). He is working overtime to persuade men to live for this temporary life and world, to abandon marriages, follow selfish pursuits instead of family, kill unborn babies, practice sexuality outside of marriage, indulge in the lusts of our flesh through “getting high or drunk,” laziness, idleness, talking about others, dropping out of church, talking less about Christ, and doing what is right in our own eyes. As we gaze at the culture, the church is being rocked to sleep by the lullabies of the enemy. Just like Peter, James, and John who slept in the Garden of Gethsemane, the church is getting drowsy as she waits for the return of the Lord. The early disciples had fallen asleep in the most crucial hour of Jesus’s life. What if you knew that Jesus was coming back tomorrow? How would this stir your heart to be about our Father’s business? What if the time was a week from today, a month, or a year? We do not know the day or the hour. .” Jesus calls us to be watchful, alert, and ready. We must walk in light. |
