A Flicker in the Flame of America. Luke 11:33-36 What happens when your light is but a flicker? What happens when you are no longer excited about doing the spiritual things you used to do? One thing is for certain, every man ought to take a look at his lamp and see how it is burning. Jesus is the Light of the world and because we are part of Him, we are lights in the world. May it be our desire to ever shine brightly for Him, making a difference. The first point Christ makes about the light is that it reveals truth to those who see it. The second truth Jesus makes about light is that it overcomes darkness. The spiritual light He is referring to is able to replace the spiritual darkness.LK11:35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. Jesus observed that many were moving toward rejection, and noted that this action is dangerous and leads to devastating consequences. Jesus' application calls for a check of the person, showing that He is talking about the spiritual person.LK11:36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. This is referencing a spiritually healthy person, walking in and reflecting the light. This person is able to receive instruction and is guided by God's teaching. Unfortunately, many have extinguished the light that God has given to us. Have you received the light of His salvation? Jesus offers salvation as a free gift. It is the spiritual light that can make the darkness of sin and wickedness dissipate. All one has to do to receive this gift is to accept it by faith in Jesus Christ.
