It is only when the marriage covenant is annulled that a spouse is free from the laws that protect marriage and thus, is able to remarry. Christ said 'fornication' alone annulled the marriage covenant. Paul said that desertion and death both annulled the marriage covenant. The liberals pit Paul against Christ so that they can be their own ultimate authority. Paul and Christ, however, do not contradict each other. Furthermore, when Paul says a believer is only to marry 'in the Lord' he is showing again the centrality of marriage to the out working of God's Kingdom plans. The implications of this are far reaching for both parents and young people alike. Preparing our children to be effective spouses is not a sideshow, but fundamental to the way God manifests His comprehensive victory over the kingdom of darkness.
