God gave to the apostles and other leaders of the early church the gift of miracles. This gift was used by God to authenticate the message of the apostles prior to the completion of the canon of Scripture. While God may still give this gift in certain places today, there is little, if any evidence, that this gift is given here in our own country today. The apostles prayed that they would be bold in their speaking while God was extending His hand by doing these miracles through them indicating that this time of miracles would not last indefinitely.
