Aim: To understand and embrace the living Christ of the gospel.
Exegesis: The heart of the gospel must be nurtured in us. This happens best on home turf (v. 30a) and with private contemplation (v. 30b). The heart of the gospel must be proclaimed to us. We need to hear of Christ's humiliation (v. 31a) and exaltation (v. 31b). The heart of the gospel must be believed by us through the grace (v. 32a) and word (v. 32b) of God.
Key verse: v. 31 ''For [Jesus] taught His disciples and said to them, 'The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise on the third day.'''
