Hell is an unpopular doctrine, to say the least. Many denominations (liberal mainline ones) openly deny the reality of hell, along with the cults of JWs and Mormons. But are so-called evangelicals any better? Many "evangelicals" appear to be embarrassed, at best, over the doctrine of hell. They demonstrate that by the fact that they never mention it, never preach on it and don't possess any kind of urgency over the state of men's souls. So, hell is not popular. But is it true? The Bible teaches it. Therefore, it's true. And therefore, it doesn't really matter how many objections people make against it. Objections don't make hell go away.
Hell is eternal and inconceivable in its magnitude. And since God is just and rewards sinners ACCORDING TO their deeds, with an exact proportionate measure, then the conclusion we must draw is that sin is inconceivably awful and offensive. Sin is to be measured by the dignity and majesty of the Lawgiver against whom we sin. Since God is infinitely majestic and holy and worthy of obedience, therefore, sin deserves infinite punishment.
