Even unbelievers know that life is short, and often filled with sufferings and difficulties. Psalm 90 is much more than a reflection of on the brevity and difficulty of life. Man is happy dealing with life, but in our rebellion, we don’t want to deal with God. And so, it is not simply that we deal with “life.” In all situations we must deal with God. For the unbeliever this is a frightening reality. For the believer we know that we don’t always rest and trust in God as we should, but we have true assurance in the midst of great uncertainty. In Christ, life is not in vain and we can fall into the hands of the Living God.
We will first briefly consider some background to this Psalm and then look at this Psalm in three parts.
