Beaucoup ressentent une profonde frustration à l'idée même que la vie soit un combat constant.
Il existe une forme de paresse, encouragée par la société qui nous entoure, où l'on nous fait croire que nous méritons avant tout d'être divertis et que tout effort laborieux est à éviter. Malheureusement, nous laissons souvent cette mentalité influencer notre vie chrétienne.
Le message de ce texte n'est pas simplement que la vie comporte des difficultés inévitables, car même allongé dans un lit d'hôpital sans bouger, on peut rencontrer bien des épreuves.  L'image utilisée est celle d'une course à pied !  C'est une métaphore de l'effort constant, de l'engagement total, où chaque pas demande une dépense continue d'énergie.  C'est une illustration de l'intensité et de la persévérance requises, non pas simplement pour faire face aux obstacles, mais pour avancer avec détermination et endurance.
De la même manière que Jésus avait une joie qui lui était réservée, nous avons une course qui nous est réservée. Dieu, dans sa grande sagesse, a mis devant chacun de nous une course à courir. |
