How do we “take delight in living according to the will of God”? First and foremost, our joy is rooted and grounded in the salvation God has given us. If we truly understand our sin and what Christ has done for us then each day will be filled with thanksgiving and rejoicing. This then becomes the ground for good works, which are not born from duty or legalism, but from joy. This delighting in the Lord will spill over and color all that we do as Christians: our singing, praying, meditating, witnessing, fellowshipping. We will come to rejoice in good works because that is what our heavenly Father does … “But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:24
