Jesus account of the Rich Man and Lazarus is remarkable on several levels. It is parabolic, but not set up like many parables. It is actually delivered on account of the Pharisees who were lovers of money (vs. 14,15). Jesus witnesses to them that the events of life and the way that things generally go, are not the measure of what comes next. A major point that is brought out toward the end of the story is that of the Sufficiency of the Word of God and the Certainty of the final judgment.
