These persons, it says, can neither totally nor finally fall from the state of grace, but shall certainly persevere therein to the end, and be eternally saved. What is the reason for this certainty? The reason for the certainty is that the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable. The salvation of any sinner is based not upon their works or their own perseverance apart from the grace of God. Salvation is God’s gift, and it will not be taken back, once it is bestowed.
