It is a great comfort to know and to accept that God created us the way we are. He does not make mistakes. Human beings were created by God with uniqueness, not through an impersonal biological process. We can trust God for how He made us, even with birth defects, disabilities, susceptibility to disease, proclivities, temperaments, emotional traits, skills or the lack thereof. With good looks, or not. A big nose, big ears, tall, short, or your body in some way is not proportioned. Nothing fits you, or fits you well. You think you're a freak, but you're really not. We can feel shame and rejection because we were not like the other kids in school. We can trust God for the way He created us! He created us with our particular personalities. This is such an important Word for us. Our genetic issues and our personalities were created by God for the glory of God. Psalm 139 has some very important and helpful things to say. John 9 has some very important things to say too. God knows everything about you and cares for you. We are fearfully and wonderfully made! Please believe it and accept yourself the way you are. This does not mean that we go with every proclivity that may make us susceptible to sin. "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." (Reinhold Niebuhr)
