My parents had a couple Mayflower Donuts coffee cups in their home which I inherited, but I won't use them. They are too special. They are on display in a corner hutch. On the side is two men dressed as old-fashioned jesters, facing away from each other, one smiling at a fat doughnut with a small hole and the other frowning at a thin doughnut with a large hole. The caption reads: "As you ramble on through life, Brother, Whatever be your goal, Keep your eye upon the doughnut, And not upon the hole." Someone has famously said, "He who defines the issue wins the debate." We can do a lot of things and say a lot of things and think a lot of things, but if they are misplaced, then they are all for nothing. Jesus said, "what will it profit a man who gains the whole world and loses his own soul?" What is the agenda which defines your life? Is it God's agenda or is it someone else's? Where will it lead you? The Christian has been saved from eternal punishment. The Christian has been saved from living foolishly, too. We now know the primary question: what will you do with Jesus Christ? Praise God that we now know that we know. IYKYK! We rejoice! Let's rejoice and weep at the same time though. Let us rejoice for the gift of faith we have received and let us tremble and weep and intercede for those who have yet to repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ and Him alone.
