Christians will remain confused in their understanding of God's will in their lives unless they grasp and embrace a two-fold understanding of His divine will.
Deuteronomy 29:29 presents both the 'secrect' or 'Decretive' will of God and the 'revealed' or 'Directive' will of God in a single verse. The secrect will of God, that is--all events that He has declared will occur--belongs to Him alone and cannot be frustrated by any action of man.
The revealed will of God or His moral/ethical will as presented in Scripture, belongs to us and it is His desire that we should obey it. But the choice to obey is ours and we don't always obey it. This will can be frustrated by the actions or inaction of man.
In our daily process of decision making, God wants us to consult, know and live by His revealed will. When we do, we can be sure that His guidance is operating in our lives when we make decisions.
Therefore, the secrect or decretive will of God will always take place. The revealed or directive will of God may not take place.
