Proposition: In Proverbs we are taught that “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver” (25:11). But it must be heard or received in order for it to be truly fit for the occasion. Again in Proverbs we are told that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (18:21). But again we must remember that the ear is an integral part of that transaction. In other words, one of the most important marks of a true disciple of Christ is how well one listens, believes and does what Christ said. Many people hear the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, but the question is what do they do with what they hear? What about you?
