The reason for this season and all of history is Jesus Christ. In Christ Jesus, we see the radiance and beauty of the salvation in which we enjoy. We have been blessed by the Blesser and Giver of all good things. We have been chosen in Him before the foundation of the world by the Eternal God. We have been adopted by the Everlasting Abba Father. We have been accepted in the Beloved, redeemed through His blood, and washed white as snow through His forgiveness. Further, we have been enlightened through the Revealer of all truth who has abounded toward us in wisdom and prudence. We have the confidence this morning that all things in heaven and earth will eventually be summed up under One Head- Jesus Christ. This Jesus, the Prophet Isaiah foretold when He exclaimed in Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” Also, the prophet Micah proclaimed, Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
