Here is the one great lesson of the faithful who went before us. The one thing above all else that their faith will teach you and say to you is to “keep your eyes of Jesus.” Paul said it this way in 1 Corinthians 11:1, Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Don’t follow any supposed example of the faith left behind by another that doesn’t call you to throw your all upon Jesus. Don’t follow the steps of any person living or dead whose life isn’t lived out of complete surrender to Christ and complete trust in the merits of Christ alone. The person who raises himself or herself up as anything in themselves or who is seeking to make a name for themselves other than to be in the cloud of those who surround the throne of Jesus to worship and adore him are to be ignored. It is the Lord Jesus that we must fix our eyes upon and they are to teach us this or they teach nothing of worth and only what will harm us.
