This past week NASA released the first pictures captured by the new James Webb Space Telescope – just spectacular images of different parts of the universe, and one apparently Christian lady commented online about how these images show the glory of God, and the first reply to her comment said, "Science did this, not your fake sky daddy." That kind of militant unbelief is prevalent in our culture and when I read those kinds of blasphemous comments and sometimes much worse, I wonder, how in the world does God put up with all that? When I see stuff like that, I wonder, how long before God says "enough?" Do you ever feel like that? Habakkuk did, and in fact, that is the main theme of our text this morning: God when are you going to judge evil? Habakkuk's burden 2600 years ago is our burden today, and in this passage he is about to learn that just because judgment is delayed, it doesn't mean that judgment is dismissed. |
