We generally think of successful preaching and teaching in terms of increasing numbers of sometimes the exact reverse is true. Jesus was always faithful to teach the truth about the father, himself and salvation regardless of the reaction of his hearers. Jesus never in any way adjusted his message based on the desires of his hearers. We are not called to survey the culture and find out what they want we are called to faithfully bear testimony to the word of God. Jesus always did and said was the father told him to do and in this passage we see that he was willing to let everyone including the 12 leave before he would disobey the leading of his father through the Holy Spirit. It is time for us to be faithful and leave the results with God.
