Every person CAN get saved when he believes that he can be saved by grace through faith without works! One's complete trust must be focused upon the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished at the cross of Calvary.
Yet, most of the prominent New Testament passages declaring that a man is saved by grace and NOT by works include statements that works should follow a person's salvation.
This truth emphasizes God's expectations for His newborn children. God expects for a saved person to live like he is saved. Additionally, a man may say he has faith, but his faith can only be SEEN through his godly, sober, and righteous life. In fact, Titus chapter 2 teaches that the grace that saves also teaches about right living.
Furthermore, the mercy that saves also invites the saint to maintain good works. The individual holds the choice to obey so it is not some type of a perseverance of the saints as taught by the Calvinists.
Good works are the RESULT of saving faith, not the producer of salvation. Most passages chronicling the salvation of a soul are followed by admonitions to good works.

James and Faith Response By gross misinterpretation, I think you would be inferring that the follow:
I know many people teach that the early writers in the Church (James, Peter, John, etc.) were teaching that works was involved in salvation. In fact, that is what I was taught but scripture does not contradict scripture so if we leave every scripture in its intended context, we will arrive at the right conclusions. James does not teach that salvation comes through faith and works.
For instance, Peter said he read Paul's epistles and was writing to the same group...did he preach another gospel in his writings (an accursed thing for sure)?
2 Peter 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
