This is possibly the most glorious and victorious passage in the Bible when it comes to showing the eternal security of the believer. Paul makes a distilled statement that if God be for us who can be against us and then unpacks the support for this already immovable pillar. Paul points to the incredible sacrifice of the Father and the Son in what Christ did in His life and death because that work dwarfs anything that God still needs to do for us. In doing this Paul shows the utter impossibility that God after enduring such great sacrifice on our behalf will now fail with the smaller part that's yet to do. What Paul seals in this passage is the glorious doctrine of the believer's eternal security. The sermon shows that to deny that Paul is teaching eternal security here is to make him a deceiver.
