This morning I would like us to take a look at these 3 men who were missionaries; the men who founded the church at Thessalonica: Paul, Silas, and Timothy. Missionaries then were church planters. Missionaries today are called to this same work of preaching the gospel and trying to see indigenous churches raised up. At this hour I want to show you that it was the providence of God that brought these men into this work, and it was also His providence that He established them in their work to give them success in it. I will make 3 points of this. 1st of all – It was God's Providence which brought Paul to engage in missions. And 2nd – It was God's Providence which brought Silas to minister with Paul as his helper in the work of missions. And 3rd – It was God's providence which raised up Timothy to be such a help to Paul, both in his missionary work and in his establishing the churches. I believe that it will be good for us to see just how great is God's providential care in relation to missions. Perhaps it will lead us to be more involved in missions.
