Rebekah's pregnancy with Jacob and Esau demonstrates for us three things:
1. There was still considerable delay and spiritual warfare regarding the next in line of the seed of the woman, even if the narrator breezed over the 20 years Isaac and Rebekah had to wait.
2. The tremendous confusion and tumult Rebekah experienced during her pregnancy, and the bitterness she experienced for the rest of her life concerning her sons, was really not about her, but rather it was about God's plan to bring about the fulfillment of His promises. Likewise, many of our worst circumstances may have absolutely nothing to do with us, even though they clearly affect us. God is working out His plan.
3. In our day, Rebekah surely would be advised by many to abort (i.e., murder) those babies. Look at all the trouble and bitterness she could have avoided for the rest of her life. But the reality is, only God can determine the best version of you, so the only obedient course of action is to obey Him and leave the results of your life to Him.
If you are someone who has had an abortion, or helped others to do so, you can still be forgiven. Jesus Christ came to save even the vilest of sinners, even murderers. Anyone who repents and believes in Him can experience forgiveness.
