Contrary to the teachings of some of the rabbis, the Mosaic law never commanded us to hate our enemies. The Law commands us to love our enemies and our Lord makes that clear in the Sermon on the Mount. Let us imitate our Perfect Father by treating our enemies with justice and respect and seeking their good. One obvious way that we can love our enemies is to pray for them. Remember, our Lord loved us when we were His sworn enemies.
