As long as we are human, we will have disputes. Big question is how do we settle those disputes? Transition: The gospel of God is not something man creates. It was founded in the eternal character of God. The gospel of God is the gospel of grace. Simply stated, it is that we are saved by grace through faith alone. Truth: Paul's defense before the apostles in Jerusalem. The Appeal (vs. 1-3) Five key questions: When (v. 1); Where (v. 1); Who (v. 1); Why (v. 2); What (v. 3) The Approval (vs. 4-5) The Equality (vs. 6-10) Doctrine (v. 6) Ministry (v. 7) Devine Enablement (v. 8) Fellowship (v. 9) Moral Reminder (v. 10) Application: If we are going to be a biblical people, we will find ourselves having confrontations. Privately at first Humility Agree to disagree Truth: Paul's dispute with Peter. Peter made a major blunder that threatened to undo everything Paul had worked to accomplish with understanding the gospel. Application: There are times for public rebukes. Always be gracious even in the most difficult times. Truth: Paul's declaration of justification by faith. We are not under the law. (Vs. 15-21) It is not logical: Ethically (v. 15) Theologically (vs. 16-18) Judicially (vs. 19-21)
