There are some notable comparisons and contrasts between our text today which contains the account of the healing of the nobleman's son, with the account given in Mt. 8 about the healing of the centurion's servant. In the case of the centurion, Jesus offered to come to his house and heal his servant but the centurion prevented him, confessing that he was unworthy to have Christ enter his house. The centurion was commended for his great faith on that occasion. In the case of the nobleman, he wanted Christ to come to his house but Christ would not. Instead he told the nobleman to go his way and that his son had been healed. By comparing these miracles it becomes apparent that in the case of the nobleman Christ had the desire to see his faith improve and become more like the great faith of the centurion. So is it Christ's desire that your faith improve and become stronger. In this study we consider what the miracle of the nobleman's son teaches us about how to see our faith improve.
