A biblical view of government leads us to be content with our government because a biblical view of government drives us into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
1) What is Government? Why did God ordain it?
2) What should our attitude be towards it?
3) Why? Why should we have such an attitude?
In the greatest example of abuse of power, we have our greatest cause for contentment. In those wicked governments of Rome and Jerusalem God purchased our salvation. And if God was glorified in the subordination of Christ to evil men which led to His death, why would He not also be glorified in our subordination to the men God has put in authority over us?
Contentment in life is determined by what we expect from it. If we expect God to be glorified in all things, including evil governments, then we can be content with Christ even if His authorities tell us to do things we don’t like.
