In this sixth sermon Habakkuk constructs a psalm to be used in the worship of Yahweh by Judah (in their formal worship with musical instruments). This poetical recounting of Yahweh's deliverance in the past was written to serve as a reminder for years to come as they waited for His deliverance in the future. It covered two areas: (1) Yahweh's APPEARANCE - being spectacular in His return to rescue His people (His presence was both startling in judgment and scary in misery). It also showed (2) His ACTIONS that brought salvation to both (a) creation - having shown deliverance and deference; and (b) His creatures - rescuing Judah with full revenge, even against strong resistance.
