Have you ever met someone for the first time, and after talking with them, you think to yourself, 'I know that person! I've met this person before!' And yet there is no way that you ever met. Those who believe in reincarnation say this is evidence that you actually lived previously in another body, and that what you are experiencing is a mental flashback to a previous existence. But is this evidence of reincarnation? Reincarnation is the belief that although you die physically, your soul keeps on living in another person. Your soul is recycled and you come back in a different life form. It is based on two foundational principles: The Transmigration of the Soul and Karma. But does the Bible teach reincarnation? When Jesus said that John the Baptist was Elijah, was he teaching that John was the reincarnation of Elijah? And could it be possible that the man who was born blind was only reaping what he had sown in a pervious life? What does the Scriptures teach regarding life, death, and eternal life? The Bible does teach the principle of 'sowing and reaping' but not Karma. It teaches that after death, what waits for us is not recycling of our souls, but rather judgment. And it teaches that if you and I are to make it to heaven, it is not through being recycled until we get it right, but rather through regeneration. If we are to see God's heaven, we must be born again! |
