How would you respond if someone, in evident concern for His soul, fell to his knees in front of you and asked, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus responded to such an inquirer by asking him if he had kept the 10 commandments, and by telling him to sell all his possessions, give the money to the poor, and come, take up the cross and follow Him. Later, after the man had gone away in sorrow, Jesus said, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." It seems that this young man had misconceptions about Christ's nature, human nature, his own morality, the way of eternal life, the value of possessions, and Christ's Lordship. How about you?
