There is a sense in which every local church is a community of runners all progressing toward the same finish line, and that finish line is Christ Himself. We are a "people in progress" and that progress will not reach its completion until the Race has ended. The Pastor of every local church is a "pacesetter" running out in front of his congregation, "so that all may see his progress" (1Tim4:15).
