Christianity, by most any estimate, is a reasonable faith. Throughout the Bible God's ministers make a reasonable, historic case for a specific redemptive story. God made the world and continued to love the world even after people sinned. He showed his love by crucifying his Son instead of those who had actually violated his will. All those who trust in him will be reunited with a loving God at the end of this present age. There is nothing in that story that makes it inherently unbelievable. When Paul argued with Agrippa he asked, "Why should it be thought incredible by you that God raises the dead?" (Acts 26:8). Strange things happen all the time and unless we live in a universe in which there is no God even a resurrection isn't implausible.
Still, believing that narrative, trusting that God, and receiving that salvation requires more than reason. It requires what Paul calls regeneration (Titus 3:5), the experience Jesus describes as being born again (John 3:3). In the external call God causes the message of the gospel to be told in the world. With the internal call, the Spirit "gives birth to a life that moves in a Godward direction." (Berkhof)
