Peter misunderstood what it meant to follow Christ. See John 16:12. Do not misunderstand or underestimate the cost. You must be willing to follow in His steps. Peter wished to hinder Christ because of fear for himself, and what it would do to his life. This was not the life that Peter imagined for himself, or for Christ. Peter's emotions and affections were totally out of place; Peter was not savoring the things that be of God.
