His baptism pictured His work of dying for our sins and fulfilled the prophecy of Psalm 40:8. The anointing by the Holy Spirit after His baptism also fulfilled Messianic prophecy and empowered Him for His ministry. The voice from the Father also confirmed the deity of Jesus, His sinless life, making Him a fit sacrifice for sin, and demonstrated that He was the suffering servant of the Lord prophesied by Isaiah.
