To the unredeemed, the things of God seem foolish. They cite things like this. How can someone believe God created the earth in seven days? How can anyone believe in a universal flood? How can anyone believe that multiple languages began in one day at the tower of Babel. How can anyone believe that holy men of God were moved by the Holy Spirit to pen without error the Word of God? How can the blood of a lamb take away sin? How can, how can, how can . . .” I have heard these and more why the world feels the Christian faith is foolish. Yet listen to the wisdom of this world. Forty-five percent of American’s believe in UFO’s, forty-four percent believe in Aliens and Ghosts, seven percent believe that Elvis is alive and countless others believe in any number of unsubstantiated conspiracies. Yet, they won’t even consider the historically valid claims of Christianity. This passage describes how God brings to nothing the understanding of the “wise and prudent.”. “For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent” – 1 Corinthians 1:19.
