Before personally signing off on his letter to the Corinthians Paul has a few words of commendation, some greetings to individuals and a final exhortation.
Commending Stephanas, he uses him as an example of the character and conduct the Corinthians should have. He would have them subject their lives to the pattern observable in Stephanas' household. This household has taken upon themselves the responsibility to be serving the body. The exhortation is for the members to be serving one another, in subjection to those leading in the areas of the ministry. Leaders are to emulate the service to others and the effort to be made in the body working together. The presence of Stephanas and company have been a refreshing encouragemnt to Paul, so he recommends they be recognized for their effort to carry the letter.
Finally Paul closes with greetings to some other individuals, but not without one more word of straightforward condemnation as he signs off in his own handwriting. Anyone who does not love Christ is doomed to hell - but those who do love Christ are loved by Paul and are precious to him. Amen.
