Paul is saying in our text this morning that everyone – everyone – Jew or gentile missionary or aborigine has at least some innate understanding of God’s moral requirements and they have that understanding because God has revealed it to everyone. For everyone no matter where they are or no matter when they lived in history; for everyone, God has written His law on our hearts and additionally for some He has inscribed His law in the scriptures. So whether you study the law from tablets of stone or only on the tablets of flesh the implication for everyone is exactly the same. There will be no excuse for anyone on the Day of Judgment. So this morning as we look at these verses I want to think about three excuses that won’t excuse you and why God’s inevitable judgment is always just. First excuse: I have the Law, isn’t that enough? Second Excuse: I don’t have the Law, isn’t that an excuse? Third excuse: I just don’t care, isn’t that my own business?
