The much neglected book of Esther needs to be dusted off now. It is true that God is not mentioned once in the book. Yet God is everywhere in every scene throughout the book working all things after the counsel of His own will--particularly with the empires of the world and their relationship with the Jews. Like it or not, believe it or not, the Jews are God's chosen people and that nation--as a nation--has a distinct outstanding future in God's eternl purpose. In Esther chapter 1 it is the Holy Spirit's intention to take you on something of a tour through an empire, a heathen empire with features that will continue to be found in empires throughout the age until the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled. One thing we learn in the first chapter is that these mighty empires are not really that mighty. They are vulnerable. The vast, mighty, splendid, lavish empire of Persia in Esther's day was rocked and shaken throughout when--a mouse roared--Vashti just said--NO! Learn what is the connection regarding the providence of God and covid19. God is shaking empires today--particularly the USA. Big things will likely follow.
