Most of the Old Testament is biographical narrative; the story of men and women and their relation to the Lord. The biblical way to approach the Old Testament biographies is either to learn from the lack of Christ in the life or to find Christ and follow him in the life of the individual. There are valuable lessons in both directions.
The biographies that are revealed in the Old Testament do not testify of Jesus in hindsight but in foresight – they are always looking forward, building on and opening up the first promise of Genesis 3:15 and building on the life of our first parents. Every biography after that is adding to the story of Jesus, adding piece to the redemptive jigsaw until the whole is completed in the coming of Jesus Christ.
