Man was created by God to work, and to rest. Like God worked for six days in creation and then rested, so man is to work six days and then rest. The Sabbath, or Christian Sabbath, or Lord's Day is a holy day, created for man, and set apart for man, so that man can become like God. As God blessed the marriage covenant to be fruitful, so God blessed the seventh day so that His Church might be fruitful as His covenant family and refreshed by His grace! In the coming of Jesus Christ, the Sabbath Day has been changed from the seventh to the first day of the week, because the hope of the seventh day has been completed by Christ Jesus, who has entered into God's Eternal Sabbath Rest on our behalf. We now await our Eternal Sabbath Rest to join Him and see Him face to face, but for now we delightfully and expectantly and exuberantly and hopefully observe each Lord's Day as time to rest and do redemptive labor to further God's Kingdom and to surrender to our own selfish, self-centered ways.
