In exercising the gifts to the church (I Corintians 12), I must have charitable longsuffering, for many will not understand or receive our message. To do otherwise is to use this gifts selfishly, and not for the glory of God. When we exercise our gifts with the longsuffering of charity, we are most like our dear Savior. Consider Christ's longsuffering as He taught sinners on this earth (and even as He teaches us today!).
