Jerusalem was ready for some good news. The land had endured nearly six decades of wicked leadership under kings Manasseh and his son Amon. Then Amon's servants murdered him in his house. Overnight, God's people had a new king, a "boy king"! Thus we read in 2 Kings 22:1, "Josiah was eight years old when he became king." The young ruler soon began to seek God and then purge Judah and Jerusalem. In Josiah's 26th year, the high priest made a startling discovery during the repairs of the temple: the book of the law. What the book reminded Jerusalem's leaders broke Josiah's heart but then helped ignite a revival in Josiah's generation. But not without some courageous straight-talk from a forgotten but faithful Jewish prophetess. So our text reveals three reasons to remember Huldah, one of Israel's most forgotten women: i.) anointing: God's Spirit rested on Huldah; ii.) faithfulness: hard truth didn't hold Huldah back; iii.) influence: Huldah's message revived a generation.
