Diligent Disciples - Lesson 6 - Add to Knowledge Self-Control. The next building block in the life of discipleship is to add to our knowledge self-control. Knowledge on its own puffs us up so we find it necessary to learn to be disciplined, to master our desires and passions. To understand self-control we examine four things - 1) Pride, 2) Passion, 3) Power, and 4) Proper Perspectives. Pride is the root of sin, passion expresses itself in our flesh through lust, the power for self-control comes from walking in and being filled with the Holy Spirit, and having a proper perspective regarding sin, sancatification, and our Savior is necessary if we are to surrender self to the control of the Holy Spirit.
