Luke's version of the "Lord's Prayer" is found in Luke 11:1-13. As the disciples watched Jesus pray, one of them asked Jesus to teach them to pray. In four brief phrases, Jesus gave the essence of prayer, then expanded the lesson by urging them to be persistent in their praying. The difference between what Matthew's version, recorded in 6:1-13 and Luke's is that Matthew treats the prayer in the context of kingdom conduct, whereas Luke addresses it in the context of kingdom conflict.
