Exegesis: The Sovereign Sower chooses His seed. It fits His purpose (vv. 1-2) and His plan (v. 3). The Sovereign Sower chooses His field. Some people are stubborn (v. 4). Hardness makes us vulnerable to Satan; answer: let us do some spiritual plowing. Some people are superficial (vv. 5-6). Shallowness makes us vulnerable to trials; answer: let us remove some spiritual rocks. Some people are slothful (v. 7). Laziness makes us vulnerable to the world; answer: let us do some spiritual weeding. Some people are sincere (vv. 8-9). Faithfulness results in fruitfulness; exhortation: let us keep our lives faith-filled.
