"The words of the LORD are pure words: like silver that is tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. You shall keep them, O LORD, you shall preserve them from this generation forever. The wicked prowl on every side, when vileness is exalted among the sons." Psalm 12:6-8
"This generation" is referring to the wicked, which simply means "the wrong." They are wrong because they are not "right" with God. And anyone not right with God is "wrong" and therefore, called "wicked" in the Scriptures. So in every generation, the Bible reveals to us that there are two groups of people... Those right with God (the righteous) and those who are not right with Him (the wicked). So "this generation" refers to the wicked in every age who never submit to the grace of God through faith (Proverbs 30:11-15). Men are declared righteous by God when, through His grace, they place faith in Him, and as of result of trusting Him and His promise they entrust their lives to Him. As Psalm 14:5 "...For God is with the generation of the righteous."
