Speaking about the time period between His first and second coming, Jesus foretold that "wickedness will increase" (Mt.24:12). Paul added that, "evil men will go from bad to worse," (2Tim.3:13). The New Testament Book of Acts chronicles the beginning of the fulfillment of that promise, and the daily headlines we see in the various outlets of our modern news media reveal its continued progression. Just as Jesus promised, the Book of Acts reveals the rapid increase of wicked leaders driven by the spirit of His opposition. The Apostle John called the spirit that opposes Christ, "the spirit of Anti-Christ" (1Jn.4:2-3). This spirit drove men to ruthless opposition of the Christian movement in the days of the Apostles, and modern leaders who oppose Christ and His Word are moved by the same spirit. Join us for the next two Sundays, as we carefully examine four driving spiritual influences that move the hearts of those who oppose Christ and His Church.
