As we read Chapter 7, it is reasonable to conclude that this is Stephen's defense against these charges made in Chapter 6. Stephen will utilize four carefully selected elements from the history of Israel in order to respond to the false charges made against him. He will draw upon the historical data regarding the lives of Abraham (Acts 7.1-8), Joseph (Acts 7.9-16), and Moses (Acts 7.17-43). He will also draw upon observations from the Tabernacle/Temple's history (Acts 7.44-50). The chapter ends with both Stephen’s courage and humility in confronting the Sanhedrin (Acts 7.51-53) and the consequences of such a confrontation (Acts 7.54-60). Throughout Chapter 7, our focus is upon the omnipresent God of glory!
