Aim: To gain a holistic and Biblical view of our responsibility and privilege in evangelism.
Exegesis: Our passion for evangelism comes from caring for the lost. This requires our hearts to break (vv. 1-2) and to sacrifice (vv. 3-5). Our confidence in evangelism comes from believing in the gospel's power. The Word is potent (vv. 6-7) and miraculous (vv. 8-9) in the elect. Our comfort in evangelism comes from resting in God's sovereignty. We are assured of Christ's victory (vv. 11-12) and amazed at Christ's grace (v. 13).
Key verses: vv. 6-7 ''But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, 'In Isaac your seed shall be called.'''
