Do you want God happy to be with you? (Well...duh!) But what does that take? According to our tour of Hebrews 11's "Faith Hall of Fame," pleasing God starts by believing in Him and trusting Him! You can't please God without faith. So we read Hebrews 11:6, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, for He who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." Hebrews 11 begins by offering a two-part insight into faith. According to verse one, faith is the "assurance of things hoped for," as in confidence in God's promises, even before you know all the details, let alone see their fulfillment. And faith is the "conviction of things not seen." There are many spiritual realities that you can't see but you trust God are true. Realities like forgiveness of sins, or the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, or the beckoning gates of Heaven. Faith brings God's promises near and faith makes spiritual realities clear! Abraham is a great example of God-pleasing faith! Let's turn to and read Hebrews 11:8-16. Abraham had faith for a life journey! Here's what Abraham did "by faith": i.)Obeyed (v.8); ii.) Sojourned (vv.9-10); iii.) Fathered (vv.11-12); iv.) Finished (vv.13-16).
